The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague resides in heritage buildings in the heart of Prague. The Rectorate resides in the Hartig Palace at Malostranské Square. The Theatre Faculty (DAMU) resides in the Kokořov Palace in Karlova Street, the Film and TV School (FAMU) resides in the Lažanský Palace on the embankment of the River Vltava, and the Music and Dance Faculty (HAMU) is located in two palaces in Prague’s Lesser Town – the Liechtenstein Palace and the Hartig Palace. All the faculties share the space in the newly refurbished burgher house, U bílého jelena (The White Stag House) at the upper end of Lesser Town’s Tržiště Street. The school’s unique locations are rounded off by the AMU Dormitory and the FAMU Studio, both situated in Prague’s Old Town, lending the entire institution an unmistakable genius loci.
