MIDPOINT Feature Launch , one of MIDPOINT Institute's core programs, aims to support writers, directors, producers and aspiring script consultants coming mainly from Central and Eastern Europe and the wider Mediterranean area.
Feature Launch / Project Development Training
A unique training and networking platform for emerging talents – teams of writers, producers and first- or second-time directors.
The 9 feature film projects go through an intensive 4-module program that enables them to work closely on the script and project development, and provides them with financing and co-production opportunities and marketing strategies.
The program consists of 3 residential workshops and the project showcase which takes place within Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with the KVIFF & MIDPOINT Development. Award of 10.000 EUR for the best project.
Producers are invited to participate also at the follow-up module organized within When East Meets West Co-Production Forum.
Feature Launch / Script Consultancy Training
The development process that the Feature Launch projects go through is used as a platform to train three attending script consultant trainees, who are learning the principles of script consultancy to enhance their future careers.

The fee includes accommodation, board and tuition during the workshops. Travel costs are NOT included. Scholarships are available.

Conducted as a sidebar module of one of our core programs, MIDPOINT TV Launch, it is aimed at writers and creative producers (with some experience in writing and the ambition of becoming creators/showrunners) without a particular project in development and is designed not only to train practical skills but also to stimulate the creative process and spark new ideas.
The 8-10 selected participants will enjoy lectures, plotting and writing training, and simulation of a writers' room.
The program's graduates will acquire knowledge and skills connected to the processes occurring during series writing, such as creative teamwork, joint brainstorming, and creating or following one unified narrative voice and vision as well as the structure of a series episode itself. MIDPOINT Shorts is a training and networking platform intended for young and emerging talents with projects of professional or graduation short films.
It selects teams of writers, directors and producers of short film projects mainly from the Central and Eastern Europe and the wider Mediterranean area to go through one online and two intensive residential workshops dedicated to script and project development. Project showcase takes place within When East Meets West Co-Production Forum.

It is presented in cooperation with Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Trieste Film Festival, When East Meets West, connecting cottbus, CineMart, Les Arcs Film Festival, CHARACTER, Audiovisual Producers' Association and FirstCut+. MIDPOINT Institute operates under the auspices of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
